A time to celebrate!

If you had the chance to attend our winter concert the other evening, see the beautiful art work hanging in the hall or visit the classrooms where students are exploring ocean live ocean creatures, virtually dissecting an owl pellet or reading and sharing their favorite books, you can see what a special school PES really is! We have so much to celebrate around here, especially the students and both their small and large accomplishments!

I wish the staff, students, families and community a very happy holiday season and the brightest of new years.

Off to a great start!

We have a wonderful beginning to the new year here at PES! Our trip to Morse Mountain was nothing less than spectacular. Hiking to the beach started the day. We got exercise as we had a chance to chat, observe and explore! It was amazing to watch the kids on the beach work together to build with old driftwood and natural material. They organized their own activities and developed their own games. It is a good reminder about the need to allow for students to use their own curiosity to create, problem solve and work together.

Some new things happening at PES:
•We have created a new 4th and 5th grade student leadership team. This group will be responsible for organizing school events, raising money and supporting local charities, raising awareness about global issues, etc.
•We recognized September's Students of the Month at our monthly school community meeting. Students are being recognized for making progress toward their personal goals, demonstrating our core of value of respect and being an exceptionally kind and considerate member of our school community. Below are our students of the month:

A Great Beginning!

We have had such a great start to the new school year. The students have come back excited and ready to learn. We will be going on our first whole school field trip on  Monday to Morse Mountain. We will do a beach clean up and team building activities. Hope for good weather!

NWEA testing is in full swing. This will help to guide teachers as they plan instruction for their classes, as well as for individual students.

Almost time...

What a beautiful summer filled with such sunny, perfect Maine days!  I hope you were able to enjoy the outdoors with your families. So many memories are made in the summer and it is such a special time of year.  However, so is fall and it is almost time to return to school. I am so excited to have the students fill the classrooms and hallways of PES and hear all about their summer adventures. Please check this blog for updates and current happenings!
